How can a teacher effect learning.
I believe that a teacher can effect learning through their attitude toward the subject. This gives the students a glimpse of energy that could excite them to learn. This is not putting on a dog and pony show but just an excitement that the students can then take and put that energy into the learning for the day.

I agree that teacher attitude is HUGE! I have seen good teachers that students just dread because there is not a good atmosphere in their class. Those teachers sometimes don't realize that if they put on a smile and pretended to actually like the kids (and maybe learn to like them without pretending), they might be more successful. It's not necessarily a dog and pony show to take an interest in kids and go the extra mile. Good thoughts.
